Adhere to the Leadership of Socialist Core Value System for the Harmonious Culture Construction

党的十八大报告提出“社会主义核心价值体系是兴国之魂”的新论断，并首次对社会主义核心价值观进行高度凝练。这些新发展对于和谐文化建设有着直接而深远的积极意义。在多元文化背景之下，建设社会主义和谐文化，要求我们要始终坚持以社会主义核心价值体系为引领。具体而言，必须对当前文化领域中普遍存在的西化、复古、泛化与弱化等不良倾向保持清醒的认识；必须辨证地把握西方文化、传统文化、大众文化与先进文化各自的特点，正确地处理其内在关系；必须采取各种有效手段，积极发挥社会主义核心价值体系的引领作用。

The new thesis that ＂socialist core value system is the soul of the national rejuvenation＂ is proposed in HU Jintao＇s report at the 18^th Party congress, which has been condensed into 24 characters for the first time. The theoretical innovation has direct and profound positive significance for the harmonious culture construction, which must adhere to the leadership of socialist core value system in the multi-cultural background. In a concrete sense, we must be wary of the tendencies of westernization, restoration, generalization, and weakening of culture; balance well among the western, traditional, popular and advanced cultures according to their characteristics; and take various measures to bring into full play the leading role of the socialist core value system.
