The Dilemma of Minimization Design under the Present Social Context

中国景观设计行业大发展约20年的时间里,景观作品形式化问题突出,过度设计现象严重。在赞同减量设计必要性的同时,指出当今中国景观设计是由商业市场、行政决策和集体审美共同作用的产物,经济利益驱动设计是减量设计难以推行的根源性原因,至少在相当长的一段时间,设计师会持续地处于这种困境当中。

Chinese landscape design industry has gone through less than two decades since its rise, and the landscape design formalization and excessive design problems are serious. While advocating the necessity of minimization design, it is pointed out that the Chinese contemporary landscape design projects are the common product of the commercial market, administrative decision-making and collective aesthetics. The design driven by economic interest is the root reason that makes it difficult to implement the minimization design. The designers will be hold in this dilemma for a long period of time.
