"场所"思想对风景园林学有着深刻的影响。这一思想使风景园林学科有别于其他创造性学科,也使风景园林实践更致力于修复受损的场地,协调环境的改变。20世纪70年代以来,"场所"思想逐渐从聚焦于场所感和场所特征转向场所和外界的独特联系。顺应这一变化趋势,20世纪90年代以来,风景园林实践中的场所策略也从识别场地特质拓展为改善地景作为场所载体的联系功能。这一转变意味着风景园林规划设计者在实践中角色的转变,也为缓和传统场所面临的继承与发展的矛盾提供了可能的方法。

The idea of place has brought great influences on landscape architecture. This idea distinguishes landscape architecture from other creative disciplines, and drives landscape architectural practice to make efforts to recover sites and places and balance environmental changes. Since the 1970s, the idea of place has shifted the focus from sense of place to the unique linkage to outside places. Similarly, since 1990s, place strategies in landscape architectural practices have shifted from the understanding of site specificity to the improvement of the connective function of landscape. Such a shift suggests a new role landscape architects may play, and a possible solution for mediating the conflict between continuity and development that old places are lacing.
