On the Ideal and Pursuit of Education——Reflection Evoked by a Sentence

"只要学不死,就往死里学",显然是和我们积极倡导的教育改革相悖的。教育应把学生从分数的牢笼中解放出来,把教师从升学的压力下解放出来。分数很重要,就业也很重要,但不是教育的终极目标,也不应成为评价学生和教育质量的最高标准。培养美好人性、塑造美好人格、建设美好和谐社会,才应该是教育的理想和追求。

＂ As long as we can not die from study, we should study crazily. ＂ obviously runs counters to the education reform ac- tively advocated by us. Education should liberate students from shaeldes of the score and teachers from the pressure of making students get admitted to education. Important as the score and employment are, they are by no means the ultimate goal of education and the highest standard to evaluate students and teachers. Cultivating beautiful human nature, shaping good eharaeter and construing harmoni- ous society are the ideal and pursuit of education.
