摘要
"语言决定论"是美国语言学家萨丕尔和沃尔夫于20世纪中期提出的一个著名的语言观点——语言在很大程度上决定人的思维。显然,这一观点是西方哲学关于语言、思维、存在关系探索的延续和发展,其形成过程吸收了唯理论和洪堡特"语言世界观"等哲学养分;同时,20世纪伊始就席卷西方语言界的语言哲学浪潮也为萨丕尔和沃尔夫的"语言决定论"增添了更多西方哲学色彩。
Linguistic determinism, namely, a language to a very great extent determines thought of an individual who utters the language, was put forward by the American linguists Sapir and Whorf in the middle of 20th century. Obviously, linguistic determinism was the development of the study on the relationship among language, thought, and being in weste philosophy. It inherited some nutriments from rationalism, Humboldt＇s linguistic worldview and language philosophy in the beginning of 20th century as well.
