In Wu Jun’s novels,characters in the context of Shenzhen almost live at the bottom of society and embrace a misshapen and morbid heart.Caught in the persistent identity anxiety,they struggle in the whirlpool of fate and keep degenerating,so they are in a state of extreme solitude and fickleness with only desires but no ideals and are unable to rescue themselves for the paucity of the illumination of beliefs in their life.Moreover,deficient in morality and emotions,they pay little attention to affection and have no friendship or love,and above all,they have only sex without love.Through his depiction of the spiritual plight of modern people,Wu Jun becomes specifically insightful by conveying a modern attitude of cultural concern.
