As a special folk culture item, the Hua' er festival has more obvious influence on the social linkage ef- fect, especially under the banner of the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage protection. Although the function of Hua' er festival has caused wide public concerns, there is no doubt that the its ecology changed rapidly. Taking the Third Laoye-Mountain Hua'er festival held in June, 2012 as an example, the paper discusses Hua'er perfor- mance's current situation and relevant protective measures in terms of the behaviors of government, distortion of the ecology, and relationship between singers and audience against the background of safeguarding intangible cul- tural heritage.
