It's important to note the pronunciations of the compound words while compiling and revising a large diachronic dictionary, which is neglected in the previous diachronic dictionaries. On the basis of specific examples, we discuss in this passage the following issues: the relationship between the phonetic notations and the set-up of the compound words; the problems we should pay attention to while noting the pronunciations of the compound words; some specific ways of selecting the pronunciations of the compound words. Also we focus on how to select the pronunciations of the two characters that record alianmianci(联绵词).
