Accomplishing High Virtues,Achieving True Scholarship and Cultivating Exemplary Conduct: An Interview with Academician Yang Shuzi

中国科学院院士杨叔子先生是我国著名的机械工程专业科学家,也是高等教育管理方面的杰出专家,从事教育工作近60载,不仅发表了数百篇科学技术论文和教育管理类论文,还发表了上千篇诗词、散文、序函类文章,是我国大学文化素质教育的首倡者和有力推动者之一。欣闻杨院士今年80华诞之际,由杨院士的数十名弟子选编的《杨叔子槛外诗文选》、《杨叔子教育雏论选》、《杨叔子科技论文选》、《杨叔子散文序函类文选》四种文集由华中科技大学出版社全部出齐。江苏大学杂志社社长带领本刊编辑趁赴武昌开会之际,特约请杨院士就其文集中所涉及的有关问题进行了访谈。访谈中杨院士对青年学者教育的核心思想、培养德才兼备的研究生、进行通识教育与文化素质教育中的教师职责、青年教师师德建设等问题进行了精辟的讲解。杨院士指出,高校要构建适合青年教师成长、发展的良好环境,营造一种尊重知识、尊重人才的氛围,青年教师也要树立正确的人生观、世界观和价值观,德为人先,学为人师,行为世范。

Yang Shuzi, an Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, is a well-known scientist in engineering mechanics and higher education management. He made penetrating interpretation of the humanistic and scientific thoughts in traditional Chinese culture, production of postgraduates of virtue and ability, relationship between general education and cultural quality education and culturol quality education. He pointed out that colleges and universities should create an environment favorable to the growth and development of young teachers and a knowledge and talent-respecting atmosphere, and that young teachers should form correct outlook on the world, life, and values to accomplish high vir- tues, achieve great scholarship and cultivate exemplary conduct.
