实施西部大开发以来,西部地区经济快速增长、社会事业全面进步、人民生活水平普遍提高,但与东部地区相比仍存在较大差距。但由于自然、历史等因素,西部地区经济还存在许多亟待解决的问题。发展西部地区的经济,基础设施和生态环境建设应先行,要大力发展特色经济,逐步将资源优势转化为经济优势,积极承接产业转移,促进产业结构的调整,坚持走新型工业化和城镇化的发展道路,同时,要大力发展民营经济,大力发展教育和科学事业,只有这样,才能使西部地区经济更上一个台阶。
