摘要
地铁给市民生活带来了便利,但是笔者发现在站名的英文翻译上尚有不妥之处。几乎所有站名都采用拼音音译,这样的做法虽然方便了外籍人士询问路线,但却并不利于外籍人士了解天津地名中丰富的文化意象,因此笔者认为这种做法并不是最佳方案。通过分析论证目前翻译方法的利弊,笔者认为,意译为主,结合音译才是最佳的翻译方法。
The author of the essay has found that there are some inappropriate translations on station names of Tianjin metro.All the names are transliterated,which is convenient for foreigners to ask directions.It is,however,a method that is difficult for foreigners to learn the rich cultural images in Tianjin＇s place names.Through analysis,the author therefore considers that the best translation method should be free translation which is,at the same time,combined with transliteration.
