The Historical Development of the Peking Office of Harvard-Yenching Institute

哈佛燕京学社北平办事处作为哈佛燕京学社在中国的常驻机构,在民国时期为学社在中国开展活动提供了强有力的支持。它为燕京大学国学领域的教育、研究等提供资助,在出版《燕京学报》和编纂引得丛刊、培养研究生等国学人才等方面做出了巨大贡献。论文从时间顺序、历任干事及开展活动等方面厘清办事处的发展脉络,完整呈现办事处的历史沿革。

The Peking Office of Harvard-Yenching Institute, which was the residental organization of the Harvard--Yenching Institute in China, provided strong support to the institutional activities in China. It provided the funds for the education and research in the field of Chinese Studies in Yenching University, assisted the publishing of Yenching Journal of Chinese Studies and Sinological Index Series, and trained graduated students of Chinese Studies. It had made a great contribution for the development of Yenching University. Through from the time sequence, the Executive Secretaries and their activities, this paper tries to clarify the development of the Peking Office in order to present a completed history of its development.
