摘要
小组讨论是一项培养口语交际能力的教学形式。英国相关研究表明中国留学生在小组讨论中通常为自己的观点辩护,而英国学生倾向于同意他人的观点以增进彼此理解。为了探索中国留学生如何在英国课堂小组讨论中进行跨文化交际,研究者跟踪观察并录下了在英国某商学院研讨课上的10组小组讨论。研究发现了中国学生与有英国教育背景的非中国学生不同的讨论方式及其导致的误解。这些误解会影响到合作学习以及对自身学习反省的机会和深度。
In Chinese college English classes small group discussion is frequently used to facilitate the development of oral communication skills.Empirical studies in Britain reveal that Chinese students tend to defend their ideas in group discussion and British students acknowledge each others ideas to expand understanding.In order to investigate how Chinese students participate in mixed group discussions in seminars in Britain , I observed and audio-recorded 10internationalised small group discussions.Because of different discussion methods , miscommunication occurred between Chinese students and students with a British style educational background.Such miscommunication would deprive the opportunities for collaborative learning and studentsreflection on their learning.
