Analysis of Story about Guan Suo

关索故事在民间颇有影响,《三国演义》不同版本对此的处理态度不尽相同。以余象斗本为例,可初步断定关索故事非《三国演义》祖本所有。舍弃如此丰富的民间故事素材,似乎说明,作为下层文人的罗贯中,与普通民众相比,仍受文人历史观念的影响,对民间素材的吸纳较为审慎。

The story of Guan Suo has considerable influence on folk. Some versions of Romance of the Three Kingdoms process it in different ways. From Yu Xiangdou＇s version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, it can be concluded that the story of Guan Suo is not in the original version. Ignoring such rich folk story material implies that as a lower class scholar, Luo Guan - zhong was more deeply influenced by the scholar＇s concep- tion of history eompared to the common people. Therefore, he is very careful to absorb folklore.
