The Narrative Effect of “Defamiliarization” in Nocturne

石黑一雄是当代著名的日裔英籍小说家,《小夜曲》是其于2009年推出的短篇小说故事集:《小夜曲:音乐与黄昏五故事集》的主要作品之一。石黑一雄擅长从对平凡事物的叙述中营造出"陌生化"的效果,使那些读来简单的文字,散发出令人欲罢不能的吸引力。文章以"陌生化"理论为研究方法,对《小夜曲》中的"陌生化"叙事效果进行阐释。文章认为,《小夜曲》中的"陌生化"叙事手法主要体现在三个方面:情节的解码延迟、传神的细节描写、叙事视角的转换。通过分析《小夜曲》中"陌生化"的叙事效果,从而为理解石黑一雄作品提供有益的参考。

Kazuo Ishiguro is a famous contemporary Japanese -born British novelist , his first collection of short stories Nocturnes:Five stories of music and nightfall was published in 2009 , and Nocturne is one of the major works in this collection .Kazuo Ishiguro is good at creating the “Defamiliarization” effect by narrating the ordinary things and making the simple words attractive .This paper is based on the theory of “Defamiliar-ization” and tries to explain the narrative effect of “Defamiliarization” in Nocturne .This paper believes that the “Defamiliarization” in Nocturne mainly reflected in three aspects:the decoding delay of plot;the vivid de-scription of details;and the conversion of narrative perspective .Through the analysis of the narrative effect of“Defamiliarization” in Nocturne , this paper can provide a beneficial reference for the understanding of Kazuo Ishiguro’s works.
