构建世界最大的城市连绵区──对长江三角洲未来发展的新构想

On Building the World's Largest Megalopolis-A New Concept of the Future Development of the Yangtse River Delta

为了把长江三角洲建成世界最大的城市连绵区，文章提出了两个相互关联的宏大构想：一是在杭州湾建造锁海大坝并展开大规模的围垦造陆；二是兴建宁波至舟山的跨海交通与输水工程，这两大构想一旦付诸实施，现有的沪宁线、沪杭线、萧甬线和长江沿岸城镇带将共同构成世界最大的城市连绵区。

To build the world's largest Megalopolis in the Yangtse River Delta, this paper proposes two interrelated bold ideas: (1) to build a gigantic marine dam across the Hangzhou Gulf and carry out a large-scale land reclamation from the sea; and (2) to construct a sea-spanning transit system linking Ningbo and Zhoushan, and a water-supplying system for conveying water from Qiantang River to Zhoushan. These daring ideas, once put into practice, will yield the world's largest Megalopolis including the Shanghai-Nanjing railway, Shanghai- Hangzhou railway, Hangzhou- Ningbo railway and cities and towns along the Yangtse River.
