It is shown that, from a survey including 1 525 effective questionaires, most of the employees working in farm animal rearing industries in China have fundamental awareness of animal welfare, for example,75.4% of the employees have heard of the concept of animal welfare;76.5% of the employees support legislation on animal welfare so as to force entreprises to provide satisfying growing and living conditions for pig, laying hen and broiler. While generally thinking that,to animals, there exist both physiological welfare and environmental welfare, the employees seem to have ignored the behavioral welfare of animals.Though supporting the animal welfare, the employees are,to some degree, reluctant to support the animal welfare in terms of excess cost, for example,59.8% of the employees are willing to afford only no more than 5% increased cost resulted from more strict animal welfare standards.
