摘要 世界经济文化的频繁交流铸就英语的国际化地位。英语母语国家的四亿人口、英语二语国家的七亿五千万使用者,用英语作为外语日益增长的人数使全球英语教学进入全面改革时期。我国近年来的外语教学改革取得实质性进展,在对学生制定与时俱进的学习标准时,也对外语教师的专业素养提出更高要求。专业发展成为外语教师实现自身素质提高的唯一途径。本文旨在通过描述我国高校外语教师在职专业发展现状、分析维果茨基的内化、工具和活动理论,以及该理论对解决现状问题的积极作用,从而使高校外语教师能持续有效地进行在职专业发展。 Frequent international exchange and cooperation in economy and culture contribute to English as an international lan- guage. The situation, which 400 million people speak English as their first language, 750 million as second language, and an in- creasing number of people speak English as a foreign language, pushes English instruction into its reform. TEFL in China has made substantial progress in recent years by both updating the standards for students and improving teachers" professionalism. It has been found that EFL teachers'professional development can help them to reach a higher level. So this paper aimed at investi- gating the situation of tertiary EFL teacher in - service professional development, analyzing Vygotsky~ theory, namely, internali- zation, tools and activity, and applying these theories to solving the existing problems, so as to make tertiary EFL teachers sustain their in - service professional development effectively.
