Reviewing and directing for future research of forty’s years development of LMX theory are beneficial for theoretical deepening and improvement.According to level of theory,LMX literature can be classified and further investigated. In the level of individual, while researching findings are very fruitful in terms of construct, measurement, antecedents and consequents, measurement needs to be redesigned, results regarding a part of antecedents and consequents are controversial, and the longitudinal method should be adopted. In the levels of individual-within-dyad,individual within-group and group, research is still on the primary stage,LMX researchers can investigate the connotation, measurement, antecedents and consequents of corresponding construct of LMX.
