“Shale gas fever” promotes Sino-Russian natural gas cooperation

全球丰富的页岩气资源平抑了俄罗斯主导世界天然气市场的雄心。美国掀起的页岩气革命改变了全球天然气的供应结构,一定程度上消除了主要天然气出口国垄断国际天然气市场的威胁,削弱了俄罗斯能源的影响力,平抑了俄罗斯对国际天然气价格的控制。多国页岩气热降低了俄周边国家对其能源的依赖;我国页岩气潜力也将减弱俄天然气要价筹码。在中俄天然气合作谈判中,这些因素有助于双方更加务实,及早达成合作成果。

Rich shale gas resources around the world lessen Russia's ambition to dominate the global natural gas market. The shale gas revolution set off by the United States has changed the nature of global natural gas supply, reduced the threat of monopoly of the international natural gas market by major gas exporting countries to some extent and weakened Russia's energy influence derived from Russia's control of the international natural gas price. Shale gas development fever has reduced the dependence on Russian energy by neighboring countries; China's shale gas potential will also weaken the bargaining power of Russian gas. In Sino-Russian gas cooperation negotiations these factors will enable both sides to be more pragmatic and achieve fruitful cooperation sooner than before.
