Ethnic Culture as the Driving Forces to Protect Mountain Pig Varieties in Guizhou:The First Case study on Ethnozoology

由于山川阻隔而形成的多样化的生物群落生境,贵州成为我国猪种资源最为丰富的省份之一。多样性的山地自然环境为猪种多样性传承提供了必要的自然条件,而贵州山地民族在饮食文化、人生仪礼和宗教生活中的肉食需求,则形成了猪种多样性传承的文化驱动机制。

Guizhou is one of the most abundant provinces of pig varieties in China because the diversi- ty of natural environment provides the foundation for swine diversity and its transmission. The needs of pork in traditional food culture, important occasions and religious ceremonies have formed the driving mechanism for pig species diversity in Guizhou.
