文字发展求区别、求表达的特性是分化字产生的重要原因,要实现视觉符号与听觉符号间的协调统一,汉字常常通过分化字来调节二者的矛盾。从汉字的记录职能来看,在文字发展定律的影响下,分化字主要表现为三种类型:为分别广义而成的分化字,为分别本义与引申义而成的分化字,为分别本义与假借用法而成的分化字。此外,文字发展定律伴随着分化字始终,既凸显分化的规律,又优化分化的结果,同时也通过大量分化而来的形声字提升了汉字整体的系统性,更加完善了其记录汉语的职能。
