Purpose To explore the clinical value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) via the fistula in nephrostomy for patients with mild hydronephrosis. Materials and Methods Fifty-three patients with mild hydronephrosis (〈1.5 cm) were randornly divided into study group (27 patients) and control group (26 patients). SonoVue CEUS was used in the study group to monitor the process of nephrostomy while routine ultrasound was employed in the control group, and the outcome was compared. Results The success rate of study group was significantly higher than that of control group (96.3% and 69.2%. respectively, 2'-~=5.097, P〈0.05); in the control group, continuous bleeding in drainage tube occurred in 1 case and perirenal hematoma occurred in 3 cases, whilst no obvious complications occurred in the study group. Conclusion CEUS via the fistula has high clinical value in monitoring nephrostomy for patients with mild hydronephrosis and can improve success rate and reduce its complications.
