Institutional Factor,Assets-seeking and the Location Choices of China's Outward Foreign Direct Investment

摘要东道国的制度环境对外商直接投资的流入有重要影响。本文基于2003～2010年中国对外直接投资的国别面板数据，利用扩展的引力模型研究东道国制度因素对中国OFDI的影响，并考察了中国对外直接投资的资源寻求动因。本文在模型中加入政治风险与自然资源、技术禀赋的交互项，发现中国OFDI流向较高政治风险且自然资源禀赋丰富的国家，以及较低政治风险且技术禀赋丰富的国家，体现了东道国政治风险对资源寻求型和技术寻求型对外直接投资的交互影响。 Institutional environment of the host country has a direct impact on foreign direct investment inflows. Based on the coun- try panel data from 2003 to 2010 this paper used extends gravity model to study the institutional factors of the host country impact on C.hina＇s OFDI. It studies the motives of China＇s outward foreign direct investment. This paper adds the interaction of institutional factor and natural resources, institutional factor and technology in the model. We find that China＇s OFDI is attracted to countries with a combination of poor institutional environment and rich natural resource endowments, or a combination of better institutional environment and rich technology en- dowment. The result shows the influence of the host country institutional factor on resource- seeking outward FDI and technology sourcing outward FDI.
