法国学者蒲芳莎运用西方语言学理论分析方法围绕《说文》进行了多方面研究;其《说文》研究十分深入,理据充分,角度新颖,有自己独特的观点;她做《说文》研究视野开阔,重视各国学人的相关研究成果,涵盖了来自中国、日本、欧美相关的资料;通过其《说文》研究,我们还可以感觉到她对中国古代典籍非常熟悉,引用起来得心应手。因此我们认为她是当代西方值得我们特别关注的《说文》研究专家。

Using western linguistic approach, the French scholar Francoise Bott6ro has studied Shuo- wen in many aspects. Her Shuowen studies have unique ideas, and are very deep, reasonable and original. With an open mind in studying Shuowen, she pays attention to the related achievements of scholars all over the world, including China, Japan, Europe and America, etc. Through her Shuowen studies, we can also feel that she is very familiar with Chinese classics, and can quote them with ease. So we think that she is a contemporary western Shuowen expert who deserves our special attention.
