Breeding of an Early and High Quality Watermelon Variety with Small Fruit “Longsheng No. 4”

龙盛4号是以W342为母本、S117为父本杂交而成的适宜保护地栽培的小果型西瓜一代杂种。早熟种,全生育期72 d左右,果实发育期24 d。主蔓第1雌花着生节位4～6节,其后每隔3～4节着生1朵雌花。果实椭圆形,果形端正,大小均匀,果皮绿色覆清晰细深绿齿带,外观漂亮。果皮厚度0.4～0.5 cm,可食率高。瓜瓤红色,剖面均匀,中心可溶性固形物含量12.8%,细脆,口感风味佳。单瓜质量2.4 kg左右,果皮韧性好,耐运输。抗枯萎病、炭疽病等多种病害。架式栽培667 m2产量4 000 kg左右,爬地栽培667 m2产量3 100 kg左右,适宜春季保护地栽培。

Longsheng No. 4 watermelon is a small fruit watermelon hybrid variety for early production in greenhouse. Its male parent is S117 ,and female parent is W342. The fruit matures 72 days from sowing and 24 days from flowering. The first female flower on the main vine is at 4-6th node, and followed by a female flower every 3--4 node. The fruit is ellipse shaped with green skin and deep green well defined stripes. The fruit is uniform in shape with thin rind, about 0.4-0.5 cm. The flesh is uniform red, crisp, tasty. The center soluble solids content is about 12.8%. The average fruit size is 2.4 kg. The fruit has durable rind for transportation. It is resistance to Fusarium wilt and anthracnose. The yield on 667 m2 is 4 000 kg in trellis cultivation and 3 100 kg in non-trellis cultivation. It is suitable for cultivation under protected production in spring.
