社会正义是社会的首要价值。但是,什么是社会正义?如何实现社会正义?至今仍然是一个没有破解的理论和实践难题。为了解决自由主义和社会民主主义的困境,吉登斯从自由与平等统一的视角阐释社会正义的涵义,从市场、政府与社会的有机统一寻求实现社会正义的途径,建构了一个试图综合自由主义和社会民主主义的"第三条道路"的社会正义思想。"第三条道路"的社会正义思想虽然具有一定的合理性,但是由于离开生产力与生产关系这对矛盾,因而仍然没有走出西方社会正义思想的窠臼。

Social justice is the primary value of the society. However, what is social justice？ How to realize social justice？ So far, it is still a theoretical and practical difficulty not solved. To solve the difficulty liberalism and social democracy, Giddens interpreted the connotation of social justice from the perspective of unity of freedom and equality, sought for the way for realizing social justice from organic unity of the market, government and society and established a social justice idea of ＂the third way＂ attempting to integrate liberalism and social democracy and justice. The social justice idea of ＂the third way has certain rationality; however, due to the separation from productivity and productive relation, it has not walked out of the set pattern of western social justice idea.
