Categorized as a "Cavalier" poet, Thomas Carew is the first to consummate in the coalescence of Metaphysical poetics' convolutional complexity with the canonical and beatific poetic style advocated by Ben Jonson, notwithstanding which fact, he is disparate from the mainstream ideology of his time. Throughout the process from initiation to finished product, his works distinct themselves from their contemporaries in manners of literary production, ideological aberrance from the established, and deliberate subversion of the canon, all of which form his heterogeneous poetics. This paper is to focus on the bridging effects of Carew' s ideological complexities and his unique innovations by way of multi-angled analyses of his poems, envisioning a rekindled interest in re-evaluation.
