OUTLINE/Monkey:Journey to the West,a Circus du Soleil-style musical created by Chinese stage director Chen Shi-Zheng,is the centerpiece of this summer's Lincoln Center Festival.Chen developed the musical, based on the Chinese classic,with England's indie rock musicians Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. Lincoln Center gave it an unprecedented run of 27 performances and aggressively marketed it to the Chinese community with the hope to attract a family audience.The production has imaginative costumes and attention-grabbing acrobatic displays,but is mired by a lack of narrative arc and dramatic tension.
