On the Language Characteristics of English Major Degree Theses

运语料库的方法,分析本族语者硕士学位论文的用词特点。结果发现,在撰写硕士学位论文时,本族语者倾向于使用正式、简洁的语言来表明观点,并习惯使用专业词汇来凸显其学术性,使用被动语态来表现论述的客观性。此外,其在语言使用上还表现出名词化倾向。

This study, adopting corpus method, focuses on the word features in MA theses written by n- ative speakers. The finding shows when writing MA theses, native speakers tend to use some formal, con- cise and terminological words and use passive voice to show the objective tone. In addition, they prefer nouns in the terms of lexicon.
