Proteinase inhibitors, which can inhibitor the growth and development of a rnge of insects, have been widely used in insect-resistant gene engineering in recent years. The revies will focus on the proteinese inhibitors and their insect-resistance.progress in the research of transformed plants with proteinase inhibitor genes. In addition, the prospects, existing problems of application of proteinase inhibitors gene engineering and resolving ways will be discussed.
