Little Longfellow War in American literary history had been attracting attention of researchers. Allan Poe criticized Longfellow＇ s plagiarism lack of innovation in his poems. However, Longfellow had remained silent so that the war gained nothing. The paper argues that the debate resulted from different poetic theory, living situation, self-cultivation and idea of innovation. In fact, the war can be interpreted by covert translation and imitation.
