Pearl S. Buck's English Version of Shui Hu Chuan in the Globalization Context

本文从全球化语境下的对外文化传播视阈,解读和评析赛珍珠《水浒传》英译本的翻译,旨在从一种"现时"的视角探析这一历史的译本,指出赛译《水浒传》履行了其对外文化传播的历史使命,是一部成功的译作。另外,本文提出文学翻译批评应从多维度和多视角构建动态、全面、更立体化和多元化的评估标准。

From the perspective of international cultural communication in the globalization context, this article tries to interpret and evaluate the English version of Shui Hu Chuan translated by Pearl S. Buck, in an attempt to explore the historical translation from the current perspective. It argues that Pearl S. Buck＇ s translation of Shui Hu Chuan has been a successful translation, for it successfully fulfilled its historical mission of propagating Chinese culture. It also admits that a dynamic, comprehensive, more multidimensional evaluation standard should be set up for the literary translation criticism from various dimensions and different angles.
