Objective To investigate cerebrospinal fluid concentration of serotonin within the influence of central sleep apnea. Methods Carried out on 8 adult male SD rats sleep apnea monitoring for 3 consecutive days, first day for the blank (group A), the second day to artificial cerebrospinal fluid (ACSF) (group B), the third day to 5-HT (group C). Record REM-PSAI, sleep efficiency, every period of sleep time and compare the result from repeated measurement data analysis of variance. Results Non-em stage apnea index of group C was significantly lower in group A and group B(P〈0.05). The rapid eye movement (REM) sigh of group C after apnea index (REM-PSAI) was significantly lower in group A (P〈0. 019). The three groups in the REM stage of spontaneous apnea index (REM-SPAI), sleep efficiency, phase NREM sleep there were no statistically significant differences in time. The REM phase of sleep time of group C compared with group A decreased significantly (P=0. 038) Conclusion Improve cerebrospinal fluid concentration of 5-HT can improve SD rats stage NREM and REM sleep apnea after sighing apnea, sleep efficiency of SD rats and NREM sleep time had no effect.
