The paper explains and analyses economic indexes such as value engineering and net present value by means of different investment modes according to a single building in terms of microeconomics. It also compares techniques and the economics of life cycle cost between fire -fighting devices and housing construction. It expounds that useful life of fire - fighting devices and benchmark rate of return are key factors of considering fire investment costs.
