摘要
舞厅业是老上海最重要的娱乐商业之一,而提供有偿伴舞的舞女则是该业的聚焦。1843年上海开埠以后,欧风美雨吹拂而来,定居租界的西人为了延续其在西方的生活方式,在闲暇时亦举办各种名目的舞会,交际舞便显身其间。1927年以后,它不再是囿于一角的"西技",而是一种广泛面向上海中上层市民的娱乐行业——与原有的烟馆、茶馆、赌场、戏院等并列。老上海的华籍舞女从产生、发展到最后消亡,前后历经约30年的时间,它和西方文化的浸润、中国国家的社会政治命运,以及上海城市的经济发展密切相关。
Ballroom industry is one of the most important entertainment businesses of old Shanghai,and its focus lies in providing paid dancing girls as dancing partners.The appearance,development and vanish of Chinese dancing girls underwent about 30 years and it was highly related to the influence of western culture,social political fate of China,as well as the economic development of Shanghai.
