The paper introduces common fault classification and influencing factors in high-voltage overhead power lines, and analyzes the reasons for the formation of the fault as well as the impact of it. The paper also pro- poses appropriate prevention and control measures, introduces the methods and principles of fault location. With the understanding of how the overhead line fault format, and the regional and seasonal characteristics of the line fault, the operation and maintenance measures and methods of the line can be made appropriately to reduce the in- cidence of failure through preventing in advance.
