该文叙述天然染料的定义和概念，介绍了国内外植物源天然染料的发展状况进行了概述，并对我国在天然染料方面发展的优势和弱项、机会和挑战进行了分析，并介绍了作者研究团队在该方面的研究进展和探索。

This article describes the definition and concept f natural dye, and it＇s overview and development worldwide. The strengths weaknesses, opportunities and threats （SWOT） of Chinese natural dye were analyzed. Meantime, the new research advancement on natural botanical dye of Laboratory of Plant Health and Natrual Substances directed by the author was also briefly showed.
