Relevance Theory-based Strategies for the Interpretation of Cultural Image Words——A Case Study of Conference Interpretation for a World-Bank Loan Project

关联理论是近年来重要的语用学理论。介绍了关联理论的概念以及由此基础上发展而来的关联翻译理论,并从关联翻译理论的角度探讨了两种文化意象口译策略:间接口译—归化性明示和直接口译—异化性明示。指出关联理论对文化意象口译策略的选择有着很强的指导作用。

Relevance theory is a very important pragmatic theory in recent years. This paper introduces the funda-mental concept of relevance theory as well as relevance-based translation theory. It discusses two strategies for cul-tural image interpretation：indireet interpretation-domestication manifesteness and direct interpretation-foreignisafion manifesteness. This paper points out that relevance theory can serve as a strong guideline for the choice of strategies for the interpretation of cultural image words.
