The Comparison between the Original Version and the Simplified Version of Oliver Twist from the Perspective of Ideational Metaphor

系统功能语法创始人韩礼德首先提出关于语法隐喻的概念,他认为意义表达的不同变体不只是在词汇层,还应该在词汇语法层。词汇隐喻包含在语法隐喻之中,语法隐喻分为概念语法隐喻和人际语法隐喻两种类型。对文学名著《雾都孤儿》的原著与简写本之间概念意义表达的变体进行对比,同时研究韩礼德的概念语法隐喻在文学原著中的实际运用及其发挥的语言学和文学的功能;归纳典型的一致式在简写本中所起的特殊作用。

The founder of systemic-functional grammar, M. A. K. Halliday first presents his thinking on grammatical metaphor and theorizes it. He suggests that the variations in the expression of meanings should be looked not only on lexical level but also on lexical- grammatical level. Lexieal metaphor is consisted in grammatical metaphor which includes the ideational metaphor and interpersonal metaphor. This paper is to analyze the variations in the expression of ideational meaning in the original version and simplified version of Oliver Twist respectively. Meanwhile, it will study how grammatical metaphor is employed in the real literature text and what kind of linguistic and literacy function it processes and summarize the distinctive function of congruent form in simplified work through this com- parison.
