Immunomodulatory functions and relevant therapeutic potentials of astragalus extract

黄芪是一味传统的中草药,具有多样的医学功效,被中国及其他亚洲国家广泛使用。其在疾病治疗及健康调理方面具有悠久的应用历史。近年来,大量研究对其单一成分(如多糖)或混合提取物的作用机制进行了探索。本文就其对机体免疫反应的影响作用此一方面进行了综述。综述讨论了其对固有性、获得性免疫反应以及细胞因子产生的影响,另一方面,就其在抗肿瘤、抗病毒以及作为佐剂的潜能方面进行了探讨。

Astragalus Membranaceus （AM）, a Chinese traditional herbal medicine, is abundantly consumed in China and other Asian countries. Together with its sibling species, Astragalus Membranaceus has been proved to possess various medical properties and has a long history as therapeutic drug to treat kinds of ailments. Recent years, its extract, as single ingredient or raw mixture, was frequently investigated in order to understand its functioning mechanism. In this review, we summarize our current understanding of its role in immune response： in innate response, adaptive response as well as cytokine secretion. Then, on the other hand, in the light of our aforementioned discussion, we extend our concerns to its immune-relative therapeutic functions, mainly about anti-tumer, anti-virus and adjuvant potential.
