摘要
零度与偏离理论是对作家作品进行语篇文体修辞分析行之有效的理论框架。门肯作为美国咆哮的20世纪20年代学术思想领域的代表人物,其犀利而又辛辣的讽刺、夸张而又华丽的文风均源于其在文体修辞层面卓尔不群且独到的偏离艺术手法的运用。门肯的语言肆意地偏离常规,却展现出了无以伦比的魅力。文章以《媚丑之欲》中门肯的偏离手法为切入点,深入分析门肯在语言表征层面从词汇到句法的偏离手法,在认知心理层面从语义到语用的偏离手法,突显了门肯偏离艺术的独特认知心理特性。
"Zero and Deviation" is an effective methodological paradigm in the discoursal, stylistic and rhetorical analysis of a particular literary work and style. Mencken, the representative intellectual figure in the "Roaring Twenties", is celebrated for his sharp, scorching satire and his extravagant and pompous wording. His unique style originates from his outstanding and original mastery of the art of deviation. His whimsical deviation touches upon every comer of the lexico-syntactic continuum, incomparable and irresistible. Taking the deviation employed in Mencken's Libido for the Ugly as the breakthrough point, the article probes Mencken's art of deviation which penetrates the linguistic representation all the way to people's mentality, highlighting the unique cognitive and psychological traits of Mencken's deviation.
