粗糠宝是传说中的历史人物。其传说版本多样,有汤池传说、老爷山彝族(撒梅人)传说、昆明传说、阳宗传说、草甸传说、官渡传说、呈贡传说、宜良传说和五华传说等,加之《南诏野史》的补充,呈现出民间、民族、传说、历史四者融合以及神性与人性交融的特点。其中,又以汤池传说传播甚广,情节较为完整,故事更生动,传奇性更强,影响最大,是传说的源。其他几种版本与汤池传说的关联性达到80%,为传说的流。
