《指路经》主要用于呗耄为亡灵指引道路进入祖先居住的地方。武定彝文《指路经》内容分为:刚死去的亡灵无归属感、祭祀亡灵、呗耄指引亡灵到达祖先发祥地,以及告诫亡灵在奔赴祖先圣地的路途中所要注意等问题。武定《指路经》展现了彝族先民的世界观和其宗教文化观等方面的内容。
