小建筑——特别是小品建筑——算是建筑师当下能较大限度地发挥其创作自由的类型项目。由博风建筑设计公司设计的位于上海嘉定远香湖的一个公厕可以说就是这样的机会。不过,通过此篇对该厕所主创建筑师王方戟的访谈,读者可以看到,要将一个小品建筑设计得有声有色且建造得符合预期,也并不是件容易的事情。小建筑同样需要思考的密度和相关专业的支撑。

Small scale projects, notably those folles for real estate promotions or park facilities, are the ones that Chinese architects at the present moment enjoy the most freedom for design decision making. A public toilet with garbage-collecting function named as ＂Laurel Fragrance Folle＂ in Jiading＇s Yuanxiang Lake surely is one of them. However, readers of this interview of its architect Wang Fangji will soon realize how difficult it could be in its schematizing and constructing process. A Follé would need just as much intellectual inputs and site supervisions as any big building.
