摘要
简要回顾了西天山解放前地质工作史，着重从区调、地球物理、地球化学、水文地质、工程地质、环境地质、矿产资源、科学研究等方面阐述了地矿工作及其重要成果。展望２１世纪是西天山地质科学、资源开发的大发展时期。
A brief review is done on geological work conducted before 1949 in the western Tianshan mountains, China. A detailed introduction is given on geological work and main achievements in aspects of regional geological survey, geophysics, geochemistry, hydro-environmental geology, ore deposits and scientific research during the past 50 years. A great development is expected in the 21st century both on geological research and resources development of the West Tianshan mountains.
