转喻与抽象具象化

Metonymy and Concretization of Abstract Concepts

本文尝试藉由转喻、意象叙述、抽象具象化的交互关系,论证当代诗中意象叙述与转喻是一体的两面。当代诗的转喻可能用于"替代",可能以"片断与细节"呈现,可能是"延迟指涉"(deferred reference)与"述词转移"(predicate transfer)的型态,最值得注意的是:转喻来自于接续或是比邻。另一方面,意象叙述将抽象具象化。抽象得于具象化,应归诸文字或是意象接续的结果。时间性的接续促成叙述的展延,空间性的接续则是意象的比邻。接续与比邻事实上是转喻的投影。进一步论证,意象叙述可能就是转喻的示现。

Through the discussion of the interrelationship among metonymy, image narration and concretization of abstract concepts, this paper tries to suggest that metonymy and image narration are the two sides of the same thing. In contemporary poetry, metonymy can be used as a substitute, or seen as details and fragments, and can also be a deferred reference or predicate transfer. Above all, metonymy results from contiguity or juxtaposition. Likewise, image narration concretizes abstract concepts, and thanks to contiguity or juxtaposition, coneretization of abstract concepts becomes possible. Temporal contiguity leads to image narration while spatial contiguity leads to image juxtaposition. Therefore, image narration shares the identity with metonymy.
