从《夏鼐日记》看夏鼐与蒋廷黻的一段学术因缘

The Academic Relation Between Xia Nai and Jiang Tingfu Through Xia Nai Dairies

夏鼐在国立清华大学历史系求学期间,师从蒋廷黻。他在蒋廷黻九一八国难演讲的激发下择定历史为业,同时在求学过程中以蒋廷黻为师,研读中外近代史论著及史料,写作并发表多篇以近代外交史为主题的论文及书评。改行之后,夏鼐亦未曾忘情于近代史研究。夏鼐研读近代史之经历,展现了蒋廷黻对中国近代史研究的构想,亦是蒋氏发展清华大学历史系之具体表现。

During the study in the History Department of National Tsinghua University,Xia Nai was under the tutelage of Jiang Tingfu.After Jiang Tingfu's speech about the September 18th Incident,Xia Nai decided to study history.He researched books and materials of modern Chinese diplomatic history and published several papers and reviews.After diversion,Xia Nai still kept interests in history.The academic experience of Xia Nai,showed Jiang Tiangfu's conception of the study of modern Chinese history,which was a part of the development of the History Department of National Tsinghua University.
