With the popularity of the book series Harry Potter in China, their translations have aroused the attention in academia. From the cultural perspective, the paper aims to study two Chinese versions of Harry Potter descriptively. Firstly, some fundamental theories will be introduced. Secondly, the au- thor presents a case study-the comparison of two Chinese versions of Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince(a simplified-Chinese version published in the Chinese mainland and a traditional-Chinese version published in Taiwan). Finally, the author points out the directness of translation in the simplified-Chi- nese version are greater than that in the traditional-Chinese version, and the former inclines to the norms of source-language, while the latter tends to the norms of target-language, which is reasonable because of different social and cultural ideology.
