农村籍知识分子进城意味着他们脱离了农村生活,但他们的感情并没有随之跟着进城,他们在内心深处与城市现代化有着天然的隔阂和距离。他们进城之后的尴尬——城与人的双向不认同、压抑的栖息、魂归何处都是对现代性反思的体现。在这些表现中也显示了他们依然扮演着"在"而"不属于"的角色。

The migrating of native rural intellectuals into the city means they have escaped from rural life, but their feelings failed to follow them. In their hearts, there is a natural barrier and distance between them and urban modernization. They feel embarrassed and repressive, lack sense of identity and lose themselves in the city, all of which shows that they are living in the city but do not have the sense of belonging.
